[edit] The group

Nine companies comprise the Specialty Group and work together to bring their clients significantly greater access to the resources, processes and strategic relationships they need to succeed.

[edit] Company roots

Formed in 1994 as ASD Specialty Healthcare, the company initially employed seven associates. Its first year sales totaled $1 million. The next few years were busy, though, and by the late 1990s, ASD Specialty Healthcare had acquired Oncology Supply, Besse Medical and Lash Group, formed a strategic partnership with the International Oncology Network and created Integrated Commercialization Solutions (ICS) to assist manufacturers with outsourced logistics.

Bergen Brunswig’s merger with AmeriSource Health in 2001 brought about significant change – but also new opportunity. ASD Specialty Healthcare became known as AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group, the umbrella organization for all of AmerisourceBergen’s specialty divisions. Meanwhile, ASD Healthcare became the new company’s dedicated plasma and nephrology division.

The following years brought continued expansion, as the Specialty Group acquired US Bioservices, Imedex (now LERN) and NMCR to solidify the company’s comprehensive portfolio of services.

Today, AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group adds value throughout the specialty pharmaceutical industry. They improve access, improve efficiency, improve patient care. Ultimately, they use their knowledgedrivenSM approach to deliver responsive and innovative healthcare products and solutions to help their business partners positively impact patients' lives.
