Founded in 1962, The American University of Paris (AUP) is the oldest American institution of higher learning in Europe.

AUP is an independent university of liberal arts and sciences with both Undergrauate and Graduate Programs.

AUP has 44 full-time professors as well as 61 part-time professors. 80% of the full-time faculty members hold a doctoral degree from institutions such as Harvard, Columbia, NYU, Johns Hopkins University, Université de Paris, Sorbonne and Yale, among others. AUP faculty members represent 15 nationalities; all are at least bilingual.

The Student Government Association [1] provides students with a variety of activities such as AUP Student Media [2] which includes various publications, video, and radio production, as well as clubs ranging from The Economist Club to The AUP Rugby Team - The Expats.

Undergraduate: 14 majors, 28 minors. A full complement of other liberal arts offerings, including: anthropology, astronomy, biology, drama, fine arts, German, gender studies, Italian, mathematics, music, physics, sociology, and Spanish.

Graduate: Executive Master of Science in Finance (with Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business),Master of Arts in International Affairs, Conflict Resolution, and Civil Society Development (with the Institut Catholique de Paris), Master of Arts in Global Communications, Master of Public Administration in Strategic Public Policy, and Master of Arts in Middle East and Islamic Studies.

The language of instruction is English.

The American University of Paris is a non-profit educational institution incorporated in the State of Delaware and licensed by the State Board of Education as a Delaware institution of higher education.

The American University of Paris is registered in the United States as a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization.

The Institut de Commerce International et des Sciences de l'Information (ICISI) which includes the Departments of International Business Administration, International Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics and Science is recognized by the French Ministry of Education as an Etablissement d’enseignement technique privé.

The American University of Paris confers the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science degrees under authority granted by the Delaware State Board of Education

AUP is an urban institution, and its campus is composed of 6 buildings centrally located in the seventh arrondissement of Paris, on the Left Bank, near the Eiffel Tower and the Seine.
