The American School of Kuwait was founded in 1964, making it the oldest American school in Kuwait. A.S.K. is a K-12 institution which also includes a pre-school (referred to as the Child Development Center). The entire school is housed in a large campus in the Hawalli area of Kuwait, and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. A.S.K. is recognized by the Kuwait Ministry of Education.

As of 2005, the campus has undergone various changes. Grass fields have been added, computer labs have been upgraded, and bathroom facilities have been added. BAE Systems has donated the computer facilities of 8 labs as part of the Kuwaiti government-mandated offset program. It is currently ranked as the second best school in the Middle East.

ASK also enjoys a high and esteemed academic program, which excels in mathematics, science, english language and the arts. ASK's motto towards its students is: "Think critically, Act with integrity and Strive for excellence."
