American High School is a secondary school located at 18350 NW 67 Avenue in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida; its principal is Dr. Louis J. Algaze.
American was built and opened in 1976 and was named so because this was the year of America's bicentennial. Its mascot and colors were chosen to reflect this. The school uses a Hialeah address but mainly serves unincorporated Miami-Dade County, including Palm Springs North and The Country Club of Miami.
American's athletic rivals include Barbara Goleman High School, Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School, Miami Carol City High School and Hialeah High School.

American High School requires school uniforms, consisting of a red, white, or blue polo shirt, as well as jeans. And have been known to do brutal crackdowns on students that violate the school policy.
