American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not to be confused with the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, the primary accreditation agency for North American seminaries.

American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions, (AAATI), is an unrecognized accreditation group based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. It was created in the late 1980s and the composition of the board is unknown.

American Accrediting Association of Theological Institutions and Christian Bible College (CBC) are ran by Cecil Johnson, and are considered an accreditation mill and a degree mill respectively.[1]

AAATI lacks the recognition from the United States Department of Education and Council for Higher Education Accreditation.[2] It will approve accreditation for a $100 fee with no educational requirements (a $75.00 a renewal fee each year), as described by Steve Levicoff as a meaningless accreditation mill, which unaccredited religious schools cite as "approval" or "accreditation" in order to avoid appearing to be diploma mills.[3] Levicoff
