[edit] About Ameinu

Ameinu, founded in 2003 as the successor to the Labor Zionist Alliance, is the continuation of Labor Zionist activity in the United States that began with the founding of Poale Zion in 1905. With national headquarters in New York, local activity is carried out through chapters in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Washington DC, as well as New York.

The organization’s tagline “Liberal Values: Progressive Israel” expresses Ameinu’s commitment to a progressive world view as well as engagement with political and grassroots activists within Israeli society. Ameinu sponsors a variety of programs in the United States to educate around issues of Middle East peace, environmental concerns, Jewish-Arab relations, poverty and more. To interface with Israeli society first hand, Ameinu has established strategic partnerships with NISPED, the Negev Institute for Strategic of Peace Development and Yedid: The Association for Community Empowerment. In addition, the organization sponsors trips to Israel that take participants “off the beaten path” and visit these and other activists.

[edit] Affiliations

Ameinu is a member of a number of Jewish umbrella organizations, including the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, American Zionist Movement, Inter-Agency Task Force on Israeli Arab Issues and AIPAC. Recognizing that the importance of Jewish continuity requires promotion and support of student and youth activities, Ameinu co-founded the new student organization, the Union of Progressive Zionists, and continues a long relationship with Habonim Dror, the labor Zionist youth movement.
