In _Unfinished Tales_ it is spelled as "Amdír". Why these are different? --RedDragon 04:39, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- The acute and circumflex accents are both used to indicate a long vowel. Tolkien didn't always use them consistently in his writings. That's probably what happened here. -Aranel ("Sarah") 23:18, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
