Ambler is a city in Northwest Arctic Borough, Alaska, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 309.

Ambler is located at 67°5′6″N, 157°51′37″W (67.085000, -157.860331)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 27.8 km² (10.8 mi²). 24.5 km² (9.5 mi²) of it is land and 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²) of it (11.91%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 309 people, 79 households, and 63 families residing in the city. The population density was 12.6/km² (32.6/mi²). There were 98 housing units at an average density of 4.0/km² (10.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 12.94% White, 0.32% Black or African American, 84.79% Native American, and 1.94% from two or more races.

There were 79 households out of which 54.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.6% were married couples living together, 25.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.0% were non-families. 16.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.91 and the average family size was 4.33.

In the city the population was spread out with 41.7% under the age of 18, 12.3% from 18 to 24, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 16.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 22 years. For every 100 females there were 102.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.7 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $43,500, and the median income for a family was $43,571. Males had a median income of $30,625 versus $36,875 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,712. About 19.0% of families and 14.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 15.6% of those under the age of eighteen and 22.2% of those sixty five or over.
