AmBev is the biggest private industry of consumer goods in Brazil and the biggest brewery in Latin America. The company was created on July 1, 1999, with the merger of two breweries, Brahma and Antarctica. The merger was approved by the Board of Directors of Economic Defense (Cade) on March 30, 2000. AmBev has a presence in 14 countries.

On March 3, 2004, AmBev signed a global alliance with Interbrew and formed InBev which expanded the company's market into North America, adding the Canadian company, Labatt. Together they formed Brewery of Americas.

With a strategy of growth based on the principles of prescriptive management, AmBev continuously strives to be cost-efficient. It considers its main competitive advantage to be its employees and its corporate culture. Today the company is known world-wide in the brewing industry. The EBITDA (earnings before interest tax, depreciation and amortization) as of 2004 were R$ 4,5 billion, exceeding R$ 3,07 billion in 2003.

Possessing the largest portfolio in Brazil's brewing sector, AmBev consolidated its operation in the Brazilian market of beers. Market share of the company exceeded 63.2% in December of 2003, and 68.1% in December of 2004 according to AC Nielsen, remaining alone in this category in 2005. Ambev is also a major producer of soft-drinks: produces Guaraná Antarctica in Brazil, one of the most popular beverages of that country.

AmBev operates in almost all Latin America through business operations in (Venezuela, Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Dominican Republic) and through its association with the Quilmes (Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile), in which its participation is 92% today. The operations of HILA added strong growth of R$ 551,7 million when it consolidated with EBITDA in 2004.
