Amalapuram is a town in East Godavari district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the headquarters of Godavari delta named Konaseema, the triangle formed by the Holy waters of Godavari. These lands (Black cotton soil) are highly fertile for growing coconut tree and rice crops. Kakinada and Rajahmundry are the two connecting cites to Amalapuram. Lots of fish varieties available here. It is the Lok Sabha Constituency from where the former Lok Sabha Speaker Sri Ganti Mohana Chandra Balayogi was elected. There are the famous temples of Lord Venkateswara , Lord Subrahmanyeswara and Lord Chandramouliswara located in this town. This town is known for its vedic culture and its development.

Amalapuram is the most affected town during the 1996 Floods.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Amalapuram had a population of 50,889. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Amalapuram has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 52% of the males and 48% of females literate. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The famous SKBR(Sri Konaseema Banoji Ramars) College has a significant historical background produced many great people to serve Mother India.

There are two engineering colleges namely B.V.C. Engineering college(Odelarevu) offers courses in Mechanical,Electrical, Electronics, Computers and Information Technology.

B.V.C.Institute of Technology and Science offers courses in Electrical, Electronics, Computers and Information Technology.

Medical college Konasema Institute of Medical sciences

Amalapuram has excellent schools like Z.P.High Schools for Boys and Girls, Paramjothi Public School, Sri Vidyavan and various other private and Government schools.

The 10+2 colleges in Amalapuram are Aditya, Sri Chaitanya, Vidyanidhi and various other private and Government Junior Colleges.

It also has many Veda Patasalas(Veda Schools).
