Vice Admiral Alynna Nechayev, played by Natalia Nogulich, is a 24th century Starfleet flag officer in the fictional Star Trek universe.

Nechayev first appears in Star Trek: The Next Generation. She and Captain Jean-Luc Picard initially have a poor working relationship, although in subsequent episodes their relationship improves. Nechayev is a hawk for and fierce advocate of Federation security and believes that Picard is too soft-handed with Federation adversaries. She cites in particular his refusal to use Hugh as a carrier to introduce an invasive program into the Borg Collective; she orders Picard to deploy the program should another opportunity present itself. Picard tries making amends in 2370, but his objections to her order to remove Native American colonists from Dorvan V in the Federation-Cardassian Demilitarized Zone sours their relationship even further. (TNG: "Journey's End")

Nechayev is a significant figure in Starfleet's dealings with the Cardassian Union. In 2369, she authorizes Captain Edward Jellico's actions against Cardassian warships in the McAllister C-5 Nebula, even at the risk of provoking open war. Necheyev also plays a role in the Federation-Cardassian Treaty of 2370, and subsequently oversees Starfleet's response to the Maquis insurrection. As part of her efforts, she requests Ro Laren's participation in an undercover mission to infiltrate the Maquis. (DS9: "The Maquis, Part II", TNG: "Preemptive Strike")

Nechayev is used in a simulation performed by the Vorta Borath to investigate possible reactions to an increased Dominion presence in the Alpha Quadrant in 2371. In this simulation, Nechayev informs Sisko that Deep Space 9 will be handed over to the Dominion, an agreement to which the Bajorans strongly object. (DS9: "The Search, Part II")

Nechayev is fond of Bularian canapés, though she finds them fattening.

Nechayev also appears in numerous non-canon media, appearing in numerous Star Trek novels and as a captain available in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Dominion Wars computer game. Renee Huberstock portrays Nechayev in the Star Trek: Hidden Frontier fan film series.
