Alwyn Pritchard (born 12 June 1947) is a Welsh-born British government statistician.

He has worked in the National Accounts directorate of the Office for National Statistics since 2000, co-ordinating work on devising and implementing new methodology to measure Government output directly. As a result of his work, the UK is in the forefront of international work in this area. For example, the UK was the first country to use direct output measures for fire brigades, courts of justice and environmental protection.

The main method he uses is the construction of a cost-weighted activity index. This work feeds into the National Accounts and measures of Government efficiency. Potentially, it can also be used to improve measures of inflation.

Previously, he was head of International Relations for ONS. He has used his experience and contacts in that job to improve international co-ordination and encourage other countries to adopt UK methods.
