Alwyn Bramley Moore

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alywn Bramley Moore (born: 1878 died: April 4, 1916) was a politician and solider from Alberta, Canada.

Alywn won election to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta in the 1909 Alberta general election. He represented the new provincial electoral district of Alexandria for the Alberta Liberal Party. He would only serve 1 term in the provincial legislature before being defeated in the 1913 Alberta general election.

After his electoral defeat Alywn went overseas to fight in World War I.

Alywn was shot by a German sniper in March of 1916 and passed away in hospital on April 4, 1916.

After his death a portrait of Alwyn was commissioned by Premier Arthur Sifton and was displayed in the legislature for many years.

Alywn has become almost a cult hero to modern day Alberta separatists for his many quotations and writings on exploitation of Alberta by eastern Canada. The Edmonton Journal has declared him, "Alberta's first separatist".
