Alvin Smith (born June 16, 1982 in Dallas, Texas) is an American football Defensive Tackle who currently plays for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League. He played collegiately at Oregon State where he majored in liberal studies.

[edit] Highscool career

Three-year starter had 212 tackles and 37 sacks at Mays High School in Atlanta, Ga. Attended Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, Va.) as a senior and was named the team’s best lineman in 1999 after racking up 80 tackles and 13 sacks. First-team all-league and second-team all-state at Chatham. Also played fullback. Attended Milford Prep School in Connecticut in 2000 and recorded 53 tackles and 10 sacks.

Spent 2001 season at Tulane University and transferred to Oregon State in 2002 and was redshirted. Starter on Oregon State’s Pac-10 leading run defense in 2005. Finished his college career as he played in 36 career games with 55 tackles, 5 sacks and 12.5 TFL. Also played in 2003 Las Vegas Bowl and 2004 Insight Bowl. Played for the Beavers from 2002-2005. Honorable mention All-Pac-10 choice following senior campaign. Invited to play in Las Vegas All-American Bowl following his senior year.
