ALUPEC

ALUPEC or ALUPEK (Alfabeto Unificado para a Escrita do Caboverdiano in Portuguese and Alfabetu Unifikadu pa Skrita di Kabuverdianu in Kriolu, English: Alphabet Unified for the Writing of the Caboverdiano) is an newly proposed writing convention for the Cape Verdean Crioulo languages, a dialect continuum spoken on the islands of Cape Verde. The new proposed system, based on Santiago writing traditions, is written in the Latin Alphabet and contains 23 letters and four digraphs:

It was approved by the Cabinet of the Cabo Verde on July 20, 1998 for a five year experimentation period, however problems with phonetic pronuciation have led to difficultries translating from Portuguese.
