Alton is a town in Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 134, at the 2000 census.a modest increase over the 1990 figure of 93.

Alton is located at 37°26′24″N, 112°28′55″W (37.440045, -112.481912)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 134 people, 34 households, and 26 families residing in the town. The population density was 139.8/km² (362.9/mi²). There were 49 housing units at an average density of 51.1/km² (132.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.01% White, 2.24% Native American, and 0.75% from two or more races.

There were 34 households out of which 50.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.5% were married couples living together, 2.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.5% were non-families. 20.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.94 and the average family size was 4.81.

In the town the population was spread out with 45.5% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 16.4% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 9.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 20 years. For every 100 females there were 86.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.1 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $30,833, and the median income for a family was $30,000. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $36,250 for females. The per capita income for the town was $7,129. There were 25.0% of families and 23.8% of the population living below the poverty line, including 31.2% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.
