Altofonte is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Palermo in the Italian region Sicily, located about 9 km southwest of Palermo. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 9,649 and an area of 35.3 km².[1]

The municipality of Altofonte contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Piano Maglio and Blandino.

Altofonte borders the following municipalities: Belmonte Mezzagno, Monreale, Palermo, Piana degli Albanesi, Santa Cristina Gela.
