Alto is a village located in western Howard County, Indiana, USA. It is part of the 'Kokomo, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. Alto is home to the Harrison Township Fire Department. John Worth Kern, prominent leader in the U. S. Senate during the Wilson Administration, was born in Alto on Dec. 20, 1849.

Alto sprawls around the intersection of Alto Road (250 South) and Dixon Road (200 West), located just west of Kokomo.

Alto youth attend school in nearby Kokomo, which also provides Alto with police and television services. Alto was nearly completely destroyed by an F4 tornado on the evening of April 11, 1965. Despite years of rebuilding, the population of Alto has never risen to the levels of nearby towns.

In recent years, Alto officials have begun efforts to increase the town's desirability with a series of television commercials and newspaper advertisements across Indiana.
