Alter Bridge is an American rock band.[1] It was formed by Mark Tremonti (former lead guitarist of Creed), with Brian Marshall (original bassist for Creed), Scott Phillips (former drummer of Creed), and Myles Kennedy (lead vocals, guitar, and formerly of The Mayfield Four).
Alter Bridge released their debut album One Day Remains in 2004, with the first single "Open Your Eyes," which was followed by "Find The Real," and "Broken Wings."

[edit] History
Alter Bridge prefer not to think of themselves as Creed with a new singer, but as a different band entirely, following a completely different lyrical path. The four spent several months trying to decide on a band name, "Downright" being high on their list, though the group finally decided on "Alter Bridge", despite Marshall not liking it initially. However, he later changed his mind, saying it had grown on him.[2] The name "Alter Bridge" comes from a bridge in Tremonti's childhood, located on the controversial Alter Road, at the intersection of Korte, which forms the border between the city of Detroit, Michigan and the city of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan. This was a boundary which Tremonti, as a child, was strictly forbidden to cross. That line of abrupt demarcation also represents a sign of enigma.[citation needed]
There is more of a 1970s classic rock feel to the band when compared with Creed.[3] Many of the tracks start off with a guitar introduction, leading in the rest of the band similarly to the previous Creed songs. However, Kennedy adds a definite change to the band – as opposed to the former baritone Scott Stapp, Kennedy is a tenor, with a much higher vocal range.
The guitars, especially the solos, use significantly more wah than in Creed. The solos are almost entirely played on the treble pick-up. This seems to give the guitar much more presence in the music and provides better audibility of the picking style and tonal nuances of the high register notes. Tremonti said of the first record that he would finally get to show his talent, and many of the songs indeed have solos or complicated sections.[citation needed]
In April 2006, Alter Bridge announced that they had terminated their contract with Wind-Up Records, securing the rights to much of their studio and live catalogue.
It was mentioned in an exclusive video by Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti that Alter Bridge would be releasing their album around March–May, 2007. Alter Bridge entered the studio on February 16th for recording.
