Altair Engineering, Inc., is a leading global product design consulting and technology company. Altair was founded by Jim Scapa,George Christ, and Mark Kistner in 1985. Over its history, it has had various locations near Detroit, Michigan, USA. It is currently headquartered in Troy, Michigan.

Altair is divided into five industry-specific business divisions: the Product Design and Development (PDD), the Commercial Software (CS), the Enterprise Process Management (EPM), the Enterprise Computing (EC), and Client Side Services (CSS).
