Altaf Husain was an eminent journalist from Pakistan. He was born on January 26, 1900 in Sylhet (today in Bangladesh). He got his early education from Calcutta and jointed Dhaka University for higher education and topped in M.A. (English).


Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah appointed him Editor of Dawn Newspaper and played an important part in Pakistan movement. Hussain also translated some of Iqbal's work into English. In 1959, Government of Pakistan confirmed Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam upon him.

Altaf Hussain passed away on May 25, 1968 in Karachi.
