The Alpha Kappa Rho (AKRHO) is a fraternity/sorority which exists to create a bridge between all men and women who are committed to seek the social advancement of under-represented populations. The organization was founded on August 8, 1973 at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. Official founding skeptrons headed by the leadership of Brother Manuel "BOY" Chua. The organization was registered at the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-profit and non-dividend corporation was also the first humanitarian organization to be chartered indepedent from its mother country. In the same university, the organization has also pioneered an Inter-Collegiate Brotherhood and until now it is known to Philippine Schools, Universities and Colleges as Alpha Kappa Rho Inter-Collegiate Humanitarian Service Fraternity and Sorority. Alpha Kappa Rho has also established alumni chapters abroad (Filipino communities) promoting humanitarian brotherhood.[citation needed]
The Skeptron Society has always been and always be an organization steeped in the tradition of the past and dedicated to the pursuit of brotherhood and sisterhood. The organization is made up of men and women from all cultures, religious background and interests. It has spread through out the archipelago and throughout the world. Alpha Kappa Rho International Humanitarian Service - Alumni Fraternity and Sorority. They do not discriminate on the basis of race, disability, creed, political beliefs, sexual preference, etc. but maintain loyalty, and unity, while striving for patience, perseverance and pride.
