Alpen is a village in the district of Wesel, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated between the Ruhr area and the border with the Netherlands. The municipality consists of the settlements Alpen, Menzelen, Veen and Bönninghardt. In 2005 there were about 12.800 inhabitants. Documentary mentioned for the first time was Alpen in 1074. You can reach Alpen over the Bundesautobahn 57 and the Highways B57 and B58. There is also a train, the RB31 from Duisberg Hbf (direction Xanten) every hour which stops at Alpen. From there it is a 10 minute walk into the centre of Alpen.
