Aloandro Ben Bekar

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aloandro Ben Bekar (or Bakr; also known as Aldroando Gil), was the Mozarab (Iberian Christian living under Muslim domination) Governor of Faro, in Portugal. He was the son of Bakr Ben Yahia and grandson of Yahia Ben Bakr, who is believed to be of relation to or descendant (possibly a grandson) of high royal official of Jewish aristocratic descent Yahia Ben Yahi III.

Aloandro Ben Bekar was the father of Madragana, mistress to king Afonso III of Portugal, and ancestor, amongst many other, of Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (daughter of Princess Elizabeth Albertine of Saxe-Hildburghausen), queen consort of George III of the United Kingdom (and grandmother of Queen Victoria, and the great-great-great-great grandmother of the current Queen of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II).
