[edit] Almalexia in Morrowind

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

From information given by NPCs from Morrowind, Almalexia was once the "most visible member of the Tribunal," but, quite possibly due to her eventual descent into insanity, she withdrew from the public eye. Vivec also reveals that he feared that she would attempt to murder him; his fears were somewhat confirmed, for she eventually kills Sotha Sil in his "Clockwork City." When the Nerevarine came to Mournhold, Almalexia asked him to do a number of tasks for her, so that she could strengthen her hold of the city. Almalexia devises a plan in able to destroy the Nerevarine, and ruling counterpart Sotha Sil, in an attempt to seize power as the sole living God on Morrowind. Unbeknownst to the Nerevarine, and the citizens of Mournhold, she stages an attack on the city, and lied to the Nerevarine by telling him/her that Sotha Sil had gone insane and needed to be stopped. The Nerevarine then goes to the Sotha Sil's Clockwork City in order to stop him, where he eventually discovers that Sotha Sil had already been long dead, where Almalexia appears before him; Almalexia did not intend for the Nerevarine to leave (wanting him to become a martyr to the people of Mournhold) and explained that she had killed Sotha Sil.

As of the events of the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it is apparent that Almalexia's death remains unacknowledged by the majority of Morrowind, let alone the rest of Tamriel; only Vivec, King Helseth, and his mother Barenziah were able to realize the fall of the goddess. She is still worshipped as a god by the Dunmer and the Hands of Almalexia still stand guard in her great sanctuary awaiting her return.

[edit] Hands of Almalexia

The Hands of Almalexia are the personal guards of the goddess Almalexia. They stand guard around her in the high chapel of Mournhold. The order consists of 5 members (6 before the death of Salas Valor, a Hand that deserted the order). Their weapons and armor bear powerful magical enchantments given by Almalexia herself.
