Alkrington

Alkrington,or Alkrington Garden Village as it's less known, is a district of Middleton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England.
Although now a district, Alkrington was once a historic township in the ecclesiastical parish of Prestwich-cum-Oldham, and a centre of the Anglican church. It was in 1886 when Alkrington was added to the then Middleton Borough.
Alkrington is the site of the famous Alkrington Hall and accompanying woodland.
Famous Alkringtonians include; Paul Scholes (footballer), Bernard Manning (comedian), Bryan Kidd (footballer), Suranne Jones (actress).
The Manchester suburb is divided by Manchester New Road (A663 Middleton - Manchester) with the "Woodside" bordering Alkrington Woods.
