[edit] History
Singing since the age of 4, she has been classically trained, being well versed in opera, musical theater and contemporary folk. In the mid 1990's she attended the University of Michigan where she studyied both psychology and music. It was there that she learned to play guitar as well as become a songwriter.
Alison returned home to New York City in 2000 where, now versed on both piano and guitar, Alison released her first album, "The Good Person's Angel", a 10 song album of material she'd written from 1996-1998 in August of 2001.
After rave reviews of her live shows in such New York clubs as The Bitter End and The Cutting Room, Alison returned to the studio in 2004 to record her followup record, "The Game", an 11 song album showing a real departure from her previous album. The album, released by Little Bright Productions, got Alison together with a number of New York studio musicians for a handful of full band dates around the city when she wasn't doing solo acoustic gigs.
"The Game" received critical acclaim around numerous blogger spots on the web, as well as national and regional radioplay.
[edit] Moving to Chicago
In 2005, Alison packed her apartment and moved to Chicago. Under the guidance of good friend and fellow musician Jonny Basofin of Chicago's The Changes, Alison hooked up with session drummer Shawn Rios to form her new band. Rios then enlisted trusted studio and session guitarist P. Griffin Baron to form the band with him. With Griffin working on other projects, Shawn asked his boyhood friend and ex-bandmate David Jakalski to play guitar for the band. After a handful of rehearsals, Shawn introduced Griffin to Alison at Chicago's Hideout, where she invited him to see her solo show at Uncommon Ground in the Wrigleyville neighborhood. After watching Alison's set, Griffin talked to Shawn about becoming a full time member of the band. With the guitar slot already filled, Griffin agreed to play bass for the band as he "wanted as much to do musically with this band as humanly possible."
With the lineup set, the band, now under the name "Now-Now" (one of the many monikers the band has gone under) played their first show at Hideout on July 13th, 2005.
The band, now working on new material, are gigging in and around the Chicago area and are preparing to record a new album.
