Aliph was founded in 1999 by Alex Asseily and Hosain Rahman, two young engineering entrepreneurs who met whilst studying at Stanford. Believing that voice would be the dominant interface for mobile devices, the two set about developing technology that created a noise-free environment.
In partnership with acclaimed product designer Yves Behar of Fuseproject, Aliph launched the most recent iteration of their Jawbone headset in late 2006. Jawbone is the first adaptive Bluetooth headset with Noise Shield, a military-grade technology developed for DARPA (The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) to enhance communications in hostile and rugged environments by reducing background noise.
Headquartered in San Francisco, Calif., Aliph is funded by private investors and the Mayfield fund.
