Alice Smith School

The Alice Smith School is a co-educational international school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a British curriculum school with a strong international flavour. Thirty six percent of students in the secondary school are from multicultural Malaysia with 64% from over 40 other nationalities. The school motto is Sic Itur Ad Astra (In This Way You Shall Go To The Stars). The Alice Smith School was founded in 1946.

The school started in Mrs Alice Smith's front room in Kuala Lumpur in 1946 and has now expanded to five-form entry. The primary school campus at Jalan Bellamy is near the Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur. The secondary campus in Equine Park is a newer construction and is about 40 minutes south of Kuala Lumpur on an extensive greenfield site which allows plenty of space for sports facilities.

The school operates at two sites: the Primary School, whcih serves a total of 760 students is in a wooded area adjacent to Istana Negara at Jalan Bellamy. The facilities at the Primary School include two libraries a gym, swimming pool, music room, hall and two play areas. The Secondary School at Equine Park, which serves an expanding population of 500 students, was designed for the school and includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool and a large sports hall, seven science laboratories, a performing arts suite, theatre and library. A 6th form block has also been built, and the gym is currently being extended. Construction of several new Science and music laboratories is currently underway.

The school is a member of the Federation of British International Schools in South and East Asia (FOBISSEA), SEASAC and of the Council of International Schools and is regarded as one of the best international schools in South East Asia.
