Alfred Pringsheim

Alfred Israel Pringsheim (September 2, 1850–June 25, 1941) was a German mathematician and artist. He was born in Ohlau, Lower Silesia (now Olawa, Poland) and died in Zürich, Switzerland. A student of Weierstrass, his mathematical work was in the area of real analysis.
Alfred married Hedwig Dohm Pringsheim, an actress in Berlin before their wedding. Together they had four sons and a daughter, including the twins Klaus Pringsheim and Katharina Pringsheim (the wife of Thomas Mann). Pringsheim was Jewish.
