Harth studied art, sociology and philosophy (public school teacher:1975-78) in Frankfurt/Main. Starting with his essay, "On Synaesthetics“ in 1967 he opened his creative horizons to a large variety of artistic fields. He included classical string players in his free improvising group "just music" in 1967 and opened the same year the platform, "centrum freier cunst“ (free (H)art(H) centre) in Frankfurt/Main--a meeting point for live free music, art exhibitions, experimental poetry, action, and other events. He included extended media in his music, including tape, field recordings and objects (since the 70's), videos, samplers and performance art (since the 80's), and electronic tools and laptops (since the 90's). Without any help of Heiner Goebbels or Micky Rehmann he initiated a world concert via telephone in 1984 and included literature and classical works from people like Eisler, Bach, and a.o. in his conceptional improvisations, as well as dada and punk (since the 70's), noise art (since the 80's) and New Music. Harth has composed for the theatre and ballet since 1979. He has also composed film music and radio plays and is active as an exhibiting visual artist (since the 60's). In 1985 Harth adapted the number 23 to his name: Alfred 23 Harth or A23H.
