Alfonso of Aragon (1481 - 18 August 1500) He was the Duke of Bisceglie, son of King Alfonso II of Naples. On 29 June 1498, he married Lucrezia Borgia, the daughter of Pope Alexander VI and sister of Cesare Borgia. On 15 July 1500, he was attacked in the Piazza of St. Peter's Basillica on his way home. He survived and was cared for by Alexander VI's doctors, as well by his wife and his sister Sancha of Aragon. On 18 August 1500, whilst recovering from his wounds, he was strangled in his bed. His brother-in-law, Cesare Borgia, is widely considered to be the man behind his assassination.
