Alexandra Polier

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alexandra Polier is a freelance journalist who was reported as being suspected of having an affair with Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry.

For unclear reasons, her father was quoted in The Sun as calling Kerry a "sleazeball"; Polier claims that her father made this comment in the context of his political views. Matt Drudge also tied the story to a comment by Wesley Clark that Kerry's campaign would "implode over an intern issue."

Following the allegations, both she and Kerry denied having an affair. Kerry went on the Don Imus radio program to deny the claim. When the story emerged, Polier had been in Kenya with her fiance Yaron Schwartzman and waited some time to comment on the rumors. Polier said that she had first met Kerry in Davos, Switzerland at the World Economic Forum, and while Kerry invited her to a party back in the United States, Polier said that she had only dated Peter Maroney, Kerry's finance director, whom she had met at the party.

Polier attended the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and later worked at the Associated Press in New York and the British House of Commons where she worked with Nick Harvey. Harvey played a small role in the story by telling the British press that she was very attractive.
