Alexandra Govere

Alexandra Govere (Lady Alexandra Muis d'Entremont-Govere, Dame of the Order Angelique d'Enfant, b. 1987) is founder and president of Kijana Project (formerly Assisting AIDS Orphans).

Govere is of Zimbabwean (Shona), French (Acadian), and American Indian (Mi'Kmaq) decent, and spent much of her childhood in southern Africa. She was honored as one of Teen People's "20 Teens Who Will Change the World," and has been featured in other publications such as Elle Girl, Essence, Girl's Life, and Crisis (the official magazine of the NAACP.) She has also been honored for her accomplishments by CNN, The Foundation for a Better Life, and the members of various African and European royal families. At the age of 12, She became the first female of color to compete on the Zimbabwean National Artistic Gymnastics Team. She was knighted at the age of 13 (hence the title), and featured in an international ad campain for The Foundation for a Better life at 14. She is also an accomplished ballerina, having performed with companies in Oregon, California, and North Carolina. She completed high school at the age of 15 and is now attending Stanford University.
