Alexander Gerndt
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alexander Gerndt (born 1986 in Sweden) is a Swedish football player who currently plays for AIK. He plays either as a attacking left-midfielder or a striker.
He came through the youth system at Visby Gute, a club based on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. He grew up in the city of Visby, which is famous for it's great nightlife during summertime. Gerndt is quick and a very good dribbler of the ball which makes him hard to catch. His sweet left foot is also a good weapon - he can put in a good cross and is always dangerous when running at defenders.
Under the last couple of seasons he has been an intrumental part of the set-up at Visby Gute, and it will be interesting to see how well they can cope without their star striker. If Gerndt can continue his development he has a good chance of becoming one of the best player ever to come out from the island. Jesper Mattsson, a former Swedish international, used to play for Halmstads BK and Nottingham Forest is perhaps the most famous native Gotland footballer who managed to make the grade as a professional.
