Alexander Boarman

Alexander 'Aleck' Boarman (10 December 1839-30 August 1916) was appointed District Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana in 1881. He was the first person to hold this judicial seat.^[1] The seat was created at this time by President James A. Garfield.

• Mayor of Shreveport, Louisiana, 1868-1872
• United States Representative from the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana, 1872-1873
• Louisiana state court judge, 10th Judicial Circuit of Louisiana, 1877-1881

Born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, he studied law at the University of Kentucky, gaining his degree in 1860.^[1]

He is buried in the Oakland cemetery of Shreveport, Louisiana, although he died in Franklin County, New York.^{[2] [1]}
