From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ektor Alexander Varkatzas (born January 17, 1982 in Orange County, California) is the vocalist for the Hardcore/metal band Atreyu. He is half Greek and his real first name is "Ektor" which is a family name. He has a large number of tattoos, many of which are based on Japanese imagery. He currently lives in Orange County, only a few blocks away from the houses of The Offspring vocalist/guitarist Dexter Holland and Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows. Also, he is a health and fitness fanatic and does not drink alcohol, although he used to be somewhat of an alcoholic. Most of their newest album, A Death-Grip on Yesterday, is based on the struggles he went through quitting his drinking habit.

He is also known for having an edgy almost distressed yet extremely unique growl when performing at live shows.
