Alex McAulay

Alex McAulay (born January 20, 1977 in Seattle, Washington) is an American novelist. Author of "Lost Summer" and "Bad Girls," both released by MTV/Pocket Books. "Bad Girls" is currently in development as a feature film at MTV.

Under the name "Charles Douglas," Alex has recorded four indie-rock albums, one with Maureen Tucker from The Velvet Underground on drums, and another with Joey Santiago from The Pixies on guitars. "Charles Douglas" has attracted a cult following, including some well-known fans, both in America and in the UK.

Alex directed an unreleased Dogme film for Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg in 2001, titled "Dogme 26: The Sparkle Room." The film is profiled in the 2003 book "Dogme Uncut: The Gang that Took on Hollywood" by Jack Stevenson. Alex has also made albums with Indian-American musician Manish Kalvakota, and appears on a recent They Might Be Giants tribute album, Hello Radio: The Songs of They Might Be Giants, alongside Frank Black, The Wrens, and OK Go.
