Alex Laurier

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alex Laurier was a 1970s children's entertainer in Canada. He was best known for his frequent appearances on children's shows including CTV's The Uncle Bobby Show as well as co-hosting TV Ontario's Polka Dot Door and Cucumber (where he played "Moose" alongside Nikki Tilroe's "Beaver").

In the late 1970s, Laurier taught acting at The Weist Barron School Of Television (headed by Margo Lane and Agotta Gabor and located in an office suite on the west side of Bay Street at Bloor Street, Toronto). The school accepted anyone who would pay tuition. The class leader spent two hours, once a week taping children on video camera reading scripts from previously produced commercials. The tapes were replayed in class and critiqued. More money could be spent on 8 x 10 headshots and tuition for additional classes but the placement or casting rate of students to a production is unknown.

In the 1980s, Laurier appeared in supporting guest roles on various Canadian television dramas. He also played minor roles on several American television movies in the 1990s.
