Alex Hawke
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alex Hawke is a former President of the Young Liberal Movement of Australia, having been elected in January 2005. Prior to taking the national presidency, he was the president of the NSW Young Liberal Division, and is currently a staffer for David Clarke, a member of the NSW Legislative Council. He has made it known that he believes the Liberal Party of Australia to be the home of the right, and has claimed that "Nobody joins the Liberal Party to be left-wing." [1] With the ability to produce statements as 'pithy' as this one, Alex is considered a future leader and all around genius.
Hawke has recently been at the centre of controversy, with former NSW opposition leader John Brogden blaming him for contributing to his downfall - a claim that Hawke denies. [2]
One of Hawke's earliest forays into politics was during his time as a student at Cumberland High School, a school in suburban Western Sydney, where he had some success in student elections. [3]
