Alex Charak

Alex Charak is an American soap opera actor. He currently plays the role of Elwood Hoffman on the daytime soap opera As The World Turns.

Alex was born January 4, 1988 in Lake Success, New York. He is a graduate of The Wheatley School in Old Westbury, New York. He is currently living in New York City and attending New York University at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. He also studies improv at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. Charak is Jewish.[1]

[edit] Acting career

Before taking his role in As The World Turns, Alex spent much of his time at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts where he acted in many shows including Man of La Mancha, Les Miserables, and The Producers (musical). Charak joined the cast of As The World Turns on September 26, 2006 in the role of Elwood Hoffman, the college roommate of Casey Hughes (Zach Roerig). As the winner of the CBS online reality contest InTurn, he was given a 13-week contract.

Aside from acting, Alex is an amateur filmmaker with his production company Star-Crossed Productions. Their most recent short film Distance (dir. David Michaels) was selected to play in several festivals around the world including The Swaziland Film Festival. Alex also performs stand-up comedy. He also is a musician and plays double bass and bass guitar and has performed in many jazz and orchestral ensembles. He studied his instruments at the Manhattan School of Music under Linda McKnight.
