Aleppo Governorate (Arabic: مُحافظة حلب) is one of the fourteen governorates (provinces) of Syria. It is situated in northern Syria, bordering Turkey. Its area depends of sources. It varies from 16,142 km² [1] to 18,500 km² [2]. Governorate has a population of 4,120,000 (2005 estimate) [3]. The capital is Aleppo.
