Aleksey Chapygin

Aleksey Pavlovich Chapygin (Russian: Алексей Павлович Чапыгин; 17 October [O.S. 5 October] 1870 - 21 October 1937) was a Russian writer born in the Olonets region. He began to write in 1903, but he grabbed attention with the novel "The Snow Covered Retreat", published in 1913. This novel described peasant life in northern Russia.

Other than "The Snow Covered Retreat", Chapygin also wrote "My Life"[1929], "Along Trails And Roads" [1933], and an unfinished "A Fragment Of The Same Mirror". Chapygin was also known for his historical novel "Razin Stepan" [1926-1927],which later became a film [1939];and an unfinished "Roving People" [1935]. He also wrote a scenario for a film "Mountain Of Gold" [1931].
