Aled Haydn Jones (born 9 August 1976) is a Welsh radio producer and since 2004 has worked on The Chris Moyles Show (the breakfast show hosted by Chris Moyles) on BBC Radio 1 in the UK. He is not always heard on air but is regularly referred to by the team. When he is on air, he is often the butt of jokes, and is regularly 'abused' by Chris, sometimes using his nationality or sexuality as material. In his role as a day producer at Radio 1, he also participates in the selection process of music for the daytime playlist. Aled has recently started producing the live radio show for one week each month, swapping jobs with the regular live producer, Rachel Jones.
Aled was born in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales, and in addition to his role on Radio 1, has also been a judge on the S4C Welsh language talent show, Waw Ffactor. He is a fluent Welsh speaker.
He appeared as an extra in season 4 of 24, in episode 23, and was voted Rear of the Year in 2004.
Aled is often known as 'BB Aled' due to his obsession with Big Brother, and when a series is running, regularly interviews evicted housemates for the Chris Moyles show. He caused controversy while interviewing George Galloway after Celebrity Big Brother UK in January 2006. He reported the figures of a Radio 1 survey to Mr Galloway, who reacted angrily to the results. Following dismissive comments from Galloway, an aide from the Respect Party (perhaps jokingly) threatened to assault Aled, as did fellow contestant Dennis Rodman. At this point questioning was ended. This became a notorious PR-gaffe, and briefly increased Aled's fame [1].
