[edit] Biography

Nicknamed by fans as El Venado (The Deer), Medina amazes spectators with his lightning-quick speed, skillful dribbling along both left and right wings, and precise passing and crossing abilities.

Ricardo LaVolpe had been impressed with Medina's prodigious skills, and called him to be in Mexico's national team many times, be it for friendly matches in 2003, the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, or for the 2005 Confederations Cup in Germany as a substitute for senior players such as Jared Borgetti or fellow Chiva Ramón Morales. Medina has 29 caps for Mexico registering 2 goal.

Medina made his professional debut for Chivas on August 8, 2000 at only 17 years old, and won an award for most promising player. His soccer career came in jeopardy after a devastating knee injury in early 2004, but returned for the later part of Clausura 2004 to become Chivas' main attacking threat. Alberto "El Venado" Medina has seven goles in the Apertura 2006, along side his partners Adolfo Bautista and Omar Bravo, and he was a major factor in Chivas' Championship win for the Apertura 2006 Tournament. Beto (Medina) is having a tremendous start to the Clausura 2007 Tournament, he has scored four goals in eleven games in the league, the last of which was a spectacular lob over Atlante's goalkeeper Federico Vilar from the far right side of the pitch. Time and time again Alberto has shown that he is an important part of Chivas. He has been called upon once again to represent the Mexican National Football Team this time by new head coach Hugo Sanchez.
