Albert Rivera

Albert Rivera (born November 15, 1979, Barcelona) is a Catalonian politician. He is currently the leader of the Catalan social democrat Citizens' Party.
At the 2006 Catalan Parliament election (the first campaign they participated in after its recent creation in July 2006), his party scored 3.04% of the votes and won 3 seats in the Parliament of Catalonia.
Following this unexpectedly good result, Rivera was revealed to have previously been a member of the right wing Partido Popular, something which many saw as contradictory with Ciutadans centre-left position. Rivera defended his membership by claiming he was unaware he had been registered as a member, and had never paid dues to the party.
