Albert Joseph Goblet d'Alviella

Count Albert Joseph Goblet d'Alviella (Doornik, 26 May 1790 - Brussels, 5 May 1873) was an officer in the army of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. Later, he became a Belgian politician. Goblet first became an officer in the French army but in 1814, he came in service of the United Kingdom of The Netherlands. At the moment of the Belgian insurrection on 16 November 1830, he joined the revolutionary forces. In the newly independent Belgium he became Minister for Foreign Affairs between 1831 and 1834. In 1837, he was raised to nobility. He was the father of Eugene Goblet d'Alviella, a famous historian.
