Albania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest three times, debuting in 2004 (see ESC2004). Their best finish was in their debut year, Anjeza Shahini finishing 7th with the song "The Image Of You". Having finished in the top 10, Albania was thus granted an automatic final berth for their 2005 entrant, Ledina Çelo with her song "Tomorrow I Go".
Ledina did not achieve the same level of success as Anjeza had, finishing 16th in the final and thus meaning that the Albanian 2006 entry competed in the semi-final. This entry was Luiz Ejlli singing "Zjarr E Ftohtë" (Fire and Cold), which represented a double first for Albania - the performer was a male and the song was performed in Albanian.
