Alan Halberstadt

Alan Halberstadt is a councillor in the city of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He was elected to the Windsor Public School Board in 1988. In 1997, he was elected to Windsor City Council and was re-elected in 2000, 2003 and 2006 in Ward 3.

He is regarded as one of the more fiscally conservative city councillors and also tends to focus on environmental issues.

Prior to entering politics Halberstadt worked as a journalist in Woodstock, Cambridge and at the Toronto Globe and Mail. He spent 16 years with the Windsor Star including seven as an editorial page columnist and sports columnist. He currently writes the feature column and freelances for Biz X Magazine.

Councillor Halberstadt is a prime mover in the Wipe Out Graffiti campaign, which is taking shape under the auspices of the Citizen's Crime Prevention Committee.

Councillor Halberstadt is Windsor's first blogging city councillor.
