Nissanka Alagakkonara (1340-1380) was the chieftain at Rayigama during the fourteenth century Sri Lanka. Alagakkonara was an ethnic Tamil[citation needed]. He built a fortress at Sri Jayewardenapura-Kotte to defend his southern chieftaincy.
